Signs That You Need New Window Treatments

December 11, 2018

When you look at your shutters, blinds, or any other type of window covering, what do you see? I will answer that for you; you see perfection, pure and complete.  Well, that is good for you because over time, that is not what you will continue to see. This is because window treatments will lose their luster or even functionality over time, and that is when you might need to do a replacement.

Knowing the right time to replace window treatments is tricky business. They could be old, but still cool and functional. So, what are the telltale signs that something has to give?

  • Bent or disfigured slats

We all know how homeowners in Tulsa, Langley and Grand Lake love to see a little bit of shine on their blinds, whether wood, faux or composite. However, they will bent or even warp over time. If you start seeing that kind of trend, then it is time to get in touch with your experts here at Green Country Shutters. A broken slat here and there can be replaced, but if more than a handful are gone, then take out your check book and think about replacing the entire blind.

  • Problems operating blinds

Sometimes, you find that raising and lowering your blinds becomes a bit of a hassle. If that simple task is starting to become more of a chore than it used to be, then your blinds are calling time on their long and illustrious career! Lifting mechanisms in blinds develop problems all the time but if it persists, then you have to do something.

  • When treatments are not childproofed

We have seen it over and over in the news; children getting entangled in cords and other non-proofed window treatments. If you are living in a home with children or pets, then childproofing your treatment is an absolute must. When your treatments are secure in that way, then kids can run around the home safe in the knowledge that they won’t come in harm’s way. If your window treatments are not childproofed, then those are absolutely important grounds to call in the experts for a replacement.

  • Blinds that do not ‘bind’

Sometimes, whatever you do, your blinds just won’t close right. You could keep at it but your slats will only move under intense pressure and sometimes not even budge. That right there is your window covering asking to be replaced.

  • Discoloration
There is nothing strange about your blinds losing some of their sheen due to factors such as the sun, but there is a problem when you can’t tell the original color. If the latter happens, then your treatments are fast losing their functional and aesthetic integrity and need to be replaced. Today, there are many treatments in the market that can resist pressure from the elements while at the same time protecting the homeowner from the harmful UV rays.

If your window treatments Tulsa are getting a little too old to hang, then contact us here at Green Country Shutters. We will be more than happy to help.
